AMERICA READS SPANISH

The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Spanish Association of Publishers Guilds (FGEE) have developed the campaign America Reads Spanish, aimed to increase the use and reading of our language through the thousands of libraries, schools and book stores of the US. To better convey and disseminate this message, America Reads Spanish is counting on numerous partners that include professional associations, bookstore chains, public and private libraries and prominent Hispanic associations in this country.

3rd Annual Indian Festival of Diwali

M I N O R I T Y A F F A I R S E V E N T

Office of Minority Affairs and the Diwali Host Committee cordially invite you to join them in celebrating Suffolk County's 3rd Annual Indian Festival of Diwali, the “Festival of Lights” this Friday, November 19, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the H. Lee Dennison Building Plaza, 100 Veterans Highway in Hauppauge.

Diwali is celebrated by over 800 million Indians throughout the world. Although originally a religious holiday, Diwali is now considered to be a national festival, and the aesthetic aspect of the festival is enjoyed by most Indians regardless of faith. Diwali signifies the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and an uplifting of spiritual darkness. The program will include cultural displays, songs, dance performances and Indian cuisine, as well as a lamp lighting ceremony and special recognition of Suffolk Indian leaders and programs.

For further information please feel free to contact my Office of Minority Affairs at 631.853.4738 or Ms. Nisha Joshi at 631.744.0217.
